How do I learn how to use InterviewTRAK?
Attend Orientation (Careers 101 and Careers 102). Find the
dates/times at
www.smu.edu/career. If you have conflicts with the schedule
due to work/class, you may also come to COD (Counselor On Duty)
and speak to a career counselor.

Attend Orientation (Careers 101 and Careers 102). Dates/times are
listed at
www.smu.edu/career. If you have conflicts with the schedule
due to work/class, you may also come to COD and speak to a career
counselor. As it is important that you meet with us so that you
know HOW to use the system properly, we do not share passwords.
I’m not in the system, and today is the deadline. What do I do?
How
do you know that today is the deadline if you’re not in the
system?!?!?!? Speak to a career counselor during COD hours, M-TH,
1-4.
How do I see a listing of companies coming to SMU?
In
MustangTRAK, click on the InterviewTRAK link. Search the
“Opportunities” box to learn what companies are interviewing on
campus and the “Presentations” box to see what companies are
holding information sessions on campus. Be sure to change the
“From” date to the end of the semester in order to search
companies coming for the whole semester.
How do I submit my resume?
Using the InterviewTRAK link, search “Opportunities” sorting by
“Resume Submission Deadline”. Click on the “details”. If you
qualify for the position, you will see a “Submit Resume” button at
the bottom of the job description. Click on it, and then choose
the resume you wish to send from the list of your uploaded
resumes.
Why don’t I have a Submit Resume button?
According to your profile, you do not meet one or more
qualifications for the job, (ex: wrong grad date, GPA,
citizenship, etc…). If you feel this is incorrect, check your
Profile for registration errors.
How do I know if I meet the qualifications?
Read
the mandatory criteria listed in the job description (GPA,
graduation date, major, etc…), and review your profile to make
sure all your information is correct.
How do I find out if I have been pre-selected?
After the resume submission deadline, employers have several days
to make selections. If you are selected, you will receive an
email from the Recruiting Coordinator at the Hegi Family Career
Development Center that will include the sign up dates. Remember
you may ONLY sign up for an interview during the Pre-select sign up
dates. Interview times are on a first come first served basis.
You may also check your “Personal Dates” box in InterviewTRAK by
scrolling down to “I Am Pre-selected or Alternate For”.
What if I’m an alternate?
You
will be notified in the same manner as above. You will be allowed
to sign up for an interview on the LAST day of the Pre-select sign
up dates. Interview times are on a first come first serve basis,
so sign up that morning!
What if I missed the resume submission deadline?
We
encourage you to contact the company directly, as you may not
apply for the position using InterviewTRAK once the date has
passed. Often, all the contact information you need is listed
under the job description if the company has chosen to list this
information. You may also check for the job to be posted on their
company website. Once you’ve applied directly to the company,
follow up within a few days to inquire about your status.
What if I missed the sign-up deadline?
See
the Recruiting Coordinator at the HFCDC to discuss your options.
Why should I attend an information session?
You
are expected to attend the information session if you have
been pre-selected for an interview. You want to attend the session
if you are interested in the company and just want to learn more
about opportunities and meet people who are involved in the
interview process. The goal is to have a competitive edge by
meeting face-to-face
I need to get in touch with a company and
their contact information is not listed?
If
contact information is not included in the job description, the
company has elected not to share that information. Either use the
Internet or telephone book to look up the information you need.
