On-Campus Interviews
Each year, over 160 companies conduct interviews on campus.  The Career Center’s interactive website, InterviewTRAK, provides employers an easy way to schedule on-campus interviews with interested students.  To reserve an interview date and make arrangements for your visit, please email our Employer Relations Coordinator, Latrice White, at whitel@smu.edu.  Spring 2008 on-campus interviews take place until April 4.  For more information, please follow the links below.

Scheduling Interviews: MustangTRAK

Our on-campus recruiting program is managed with MustangTRAK on the web. Employers have control of their job descriptions, may select students for interviewing, view resumes, and see recruiting schedules all online.  View the online guide for MustangTRAK by logging in to the system.

Reservations are granted on a first-come, first-served basis through the Recruiting Office. Contact us to schedule your visit to campus. Once you have scheduled a date, you will be given access to the online system that will allow you to specify details of the position(s), and your organization's requirements. This information will be made available to students via our home page.

You will receive 3 emails before your visit on campus.

1. An email will confirm your reservation with attachments providing you a password, your deadlines and brief instructions to help you get started. Your first task is to copy your job into the system and "attach" it to the reservation made for you.

2. A 2nd email will come to you when the deadline for the students' resumes arrives, and will provide you instructions for downloading resumes and pre-selecting students online.

3. A 3rd email reminds you that the final schedule is available with instructions, and provides you directions for how to get to campus with a link to our campus map.

At any time throughout the process, companies are encouraged to email students whose resumes have been received. Again, you can do it through MustangTRAK. It is a great way to let the students learn more about your company, for you to create a presence on campus, and to generate interest in your company with that personal touch.

Facilities: 7 private interview rooms in the Career Center as well as 1 conference room (available only upon request) and classrooms for information sessions.

Schedule: 30, 45, or 60 minute schedules are available.  We can work with you to accommodate alternative interview times between the hours of 8:30am and 5pm.

Preselect Schedules: Companies select the students to interview on MustangTRAK. You have 5 days to review the resumes and notify selected students. We recommend that you chose three to five alternates, since some of the selected students may not interview. If you would like unfilled slots to be "open" to unselected students, please let us know.

Open Schedules: The blank schedules are entered for you by the Career Center through  arrangement with the Recruiting Coordinator. You can watch your schedule fill up on MustangTRAK while having access to the resumes. Your final schedule is available to you 4 days before your campus visit.

Citizenship Requirements (as listed in MustangTRAK):

U.S. Citizen: Born in the United States. Only companies with government contracts and security clearance requirements may make this selection.

Permanent resident: (this does not include practical training authorization) has US Permanent Residency and has all rights except voting.  This was formerly known as the Green Card.

H-1: Temporary Work Permit (3yrs. with possible renewal)

F-1: Can work on campus and internships plus practical training (12 mths. after graduation)

J-1: Student or researcher

When you select one of these items in MustangTRAK, all students in the categories above it will also be permitted to submit resumes for your on-campus schedule.

Resumes: Student resumes are available through the MustangTRAK system. If your company requires additional information such as cover letters, transcripts, applications, or writing samples, please specify this information when reserving your interview schedule. Company applications should be forwarded to the Recruiting Office well in advance of the resume deadline date. We do not have the capability to provide transcripts electronically, only Degree Progress Reports (DPRs). If you require an official transcript, please request on MustangTRAK that students bring their transcript to the interview, or we suggest that you request them during your second round of interviews.

Company Literature: We encourage our students to research companies on the web and on company websites. We also encourage companies to email students whose resumes have been received. The SMU Career Center discourages company literature at this time for lack of space and staff to maintain it.

Publicity And Presentations

Information Sessions/Presentations are a way to meet informally with students to provide information about the organization, as well as the career opportunities offered. Many organizations like to schedule information sessions a few weeks in advance or the night before scheduled interviews. The university can provide information about available dates, audio-visual equipment, and room reservations.

At any time throughout the process, companies are encouraged to email students whose resumes have been received. You can do it through MustangTRAK. It is a great way to let the students learn more about your company, for you to create a presence on campus, and to generate interest in your company with that personal touch.

Daily Campus: We suggest that you place an ad in the Daily Campus to publicize your visit. For more information, please contact Mary Beth Bratcher at (214) 768-4509.

Career Fair: Participation in our annual fall and spring career fair is an excellent opportunity for campus wide exposure.

Student Organizations: If you would like further exposure, view a list of student organizations at www.smu.edu/sac/groups.asp and contact them to promote your campus visit.
Note: most student organizations meet one to two times monthly.
