Accelerated Professional Development Program Overview
The EDS Accelerated Professional Development (APD)
Program offers college graduates a unique opportunity to
start a career at a the largest information technology
(IT) services company on the Fortune 500 with a solid
foundation in project management methodologies, business
and systems analysis, or advanced IT development
techniques. Participants begin through a structured
curriculum composed of orientation, acclimation, formal
training and apprenticeships. The program also provides
mentoring, business and leadership training, and
additional developmental opportunities.
APD Program Tracks and Post-Program Roles
This Program provides you with the knowledge, training
and resources to establish a strong understanding of
EDS, as well as opportunities to demonstrate your
business, technical and leadership skills. Depending
upon pre-assigned job placement, your role would be one
of the following:
• Business Analyst: Serves as a liaison between
customer and technical solutions groups to identify
business processes, systems, and product requirements.
Researches, identifies and develops solutions to
problems. Formulates and defines systems scope and
objectives using Information Technology and industry
knowledge/requirements. Analyzes business and user
needs, and documents customer specifications. Supports
aspects of the business cycle including proposals,
feasibility studies, and implementations. Considers the
business implications of the application of technology
to the current business environment.
• Information Associate: Applies specialized
knowledge in web development to conceptualize, design,
construct, test and implement portions of business and
technical information technology solutions through
application of appropriate software development life
cycle methodology. Participates in business and
technical information technology solution
implementations, upgrades, enhancement and conversions.
Coordinates and collaborates with others in analyzing
collected requirements to ensure plans and identified
solutions meet customer needs and expectations.
Establishes and maintains security, integrity and
business continuity controls and documents
Candidate Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS,
Business Administration, or equivalent, 3.0 GPA or
higher
• Strong critical thinking and problem solving
skills; demonstrated analytical and quantitative
capabilities
• Excellent oral and written communication
skills; ability to interact with clients
• Ability to deal with ambiguity and handle
project assignments with limited oversight
• Proven team player able to work well with
others
• Demonstrated initiative and leadership ability
• Permanent authorization to work in the United
States required
