Sam Houston Portrait Fund

Bridwell Library has in its collections a portrait of Sam Houston painted in 1902 by Henry Arthur McArdle (1836 - 1908), which, due to its condition, has not been on public view since the 1940's. With the goal of providing for the permanent display of the portrait, a fund has been established to pay for the cleaning, repair, conservation, framing, and installation of the portrait.

The fund will be known as the Sam Houston Portrait Fund and will be administered by Bridwell Library of the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. All contributions to the fund will go toward the cleaning, repair, conservation, framing, and installation of the painting.
