William MorrisThe founder of the Kelmscott Press was the great English artist and writer William Morris (1834-1896). Working at Hammersmith, England, Morris led the revival of fine typography that begat the Private Press movement. Bridwell Library's Kelmscott Press holdings include Morris' inscribed vellum copy of the Kelmscott Chaucer (1896), part of the "Triple Crown" of modern typography (with the Ashendene Dante and the Doves Press Bible).
