Giambattista Bodoni (1740-1813) of Parma, Italy, was the outstanding typographer of his time. The matchless perfection of the Bodoni fonts is reflected in more than 400 stately editions of classic texts owned by Bridwell Library. Bodoni's artistic ideals found their culmination in the Manuale tipografico, a compendium of typefonts published under the supervision of his widow in 1818.
