The Ashendene Press was the brainchild of Charles Harry St John Hornby (1867-1946). Established at Chelsea, England, the press produced 40 editions of the highest typographical distinction from 1895 to 1935, including the famous 1909 edition of Dante's works. Bridwell Library owns paper and vellum copies of all of the Ashendene Press editions as well as Hornby's archive and his Royal Albion printing press.
