10. AQUINAS AGAIN

THOMAS AQUINAS, Saint (1226-1274). Summa theologica, pars secunda, primus liber. Mainz: Peter Schoeffer, 8 November 1471.

Page from Summa TheologicaAlthough parts of the Summa theologica of Thomas Aquinas had been printed as early as 1463, Schoeffer was the first to print the the first section of the secunda Pars in 1471. In the Bridwell Library copy, the rectos of the first leaf and leaf 90 each bear contemporary ink ownership inscriptions, according to which the book was given to the Dominican Convent at Vienna by Leonhardt Malner de Novo Foro (Neumarkt), Regent of the Ducal College. Malner was probably the early owner who added many marginal notes in ink.
