Online Resources
Recently, the curators of Special Collections launched an expanded
series of online resources for the use of students, scholars and
other individuals interested in our collections.
All
of the title below are linked to the resource in question, or additional
information.
The purpose of these projects is to organize, preserve, make
accessible, and interpret materials in a variety of fields,
particularly theology and religious studies. These resources should
facilitate and encourage study and research in Bridwell Library’s
Special Collection of fine bindings, rare books, Bibles, papyri,
manuscript codices and fragments, and Welseyana. These resources
support research in the fields of theology, religious studies,
Methodist studies, classics, archeology, history, paleography,
foreign languages, art history, music history, and manuscript
studies.
Online materials fall into three categories: online exhibitions, online
publications, and digital facsimiles. Many online
exhibitions represent highlights of a recent exhibition staged in
the Elizabeth Perkins Prothro Galleries. Others were created
specifically
for
the online community. Online publications include web versions of
exhibition catalogs, as well as digital versions of other Bridwell
publications. Digital facsimiles are the product of an
ongoing collaboration between Bridwell Library and the Octavo
Corporation committed to publishing and preserving books,
manuscripts, and antiquarian printed materials with state-of-the-art
digital tools and formats. Virtually
all of the materials included in the online resources are held in
Bridwell Library's Special Collections and are available for
researchers to explore in the
Decherd
Turner Reading Room.
