Illuminated vellum manuscript. Folio. [514] leaves (first
leaf blank), 14½ × 9¾ inches. Double column, 46 lines.
72 miniatures, 73 initials with penwork decoration; illuminated initials,
illuminations in blue, gray, tan, gold, and red; book titles at top continue
from the left to right page in alternate red and blue letters as do the
chapter numbers; capital strokes and underlining in red; initials with
penwork decoration in red and blue; line and column ruling in brown ink;
marginal notes in later hand, some in a small hand at outer margins; inserts
or corrections indicated by check mark or pointed finger. 15th-century
Italian brown calfskin, panel design; 10 original brass bosses with clasps
and catchplates; new spine, leather thongs, and pastedowns.
