Scoring a Success
SMU’s intramural fields sport new electronic scoreboards this summer,
thanks to the Mothers’ and Dads’ Clubs and their 2006 Gifts Campaign.
According to Judith Banes, director of Recreational Sports and Spirit, the scoreboards “contribute to the Sport Clubs’ pride in their home field and are a symbol of wonderful parental involvement with their students.”
Tony Wagner, head coach of the SMU Rugby Club, agrees. Below are excerpts of his recent thank-you to the Mothers’ and Dads’ Clubs:
The SMU Rugby Club has placed third in the Texas Rugby Union Collegiate Division II Championships twice in five years. We’re a young program, working on becoming more competitive. It’s our goal to eventually compete with elite universities across the country.
These scoreboards will assist us, along with the lighted field we play on, in bringing back athletic prominence and pride. Thank you, parents of SMU and everyone who helped with the purchase and installation of these great scoreboards.
