SMU Anthropology Newsletter STAFF NEWS Pamela Hogan (Administrative Assistant to the Department Chair) and Elaine Sarmiento (Departmental Administrative Assistant) continue to provide valuable assistance to our faculty, students, and alumni. Pamela not only oversees all administrative matters related to the departmental chair's duties, she also works with the Director of Graduate Studies to handle all matters related to graduate students. Elaine works with the Director of Undergraduate Studies to ensure that everything runs smoothly for undergraduate students, including majors and minors. If you have any questions about departmental activities, call them at 214-768-4152 or 214-768-4152, respectively. John Phinney (Librarian, ISEM, and Adjunct Lecturer) continues to fulfill his principal role of being the source of all wisdom about SMU's anthropological book and journal holdings. For many years, in his role as Chair of the Anthropology Department Library Committee, we have enjoyed the benefits of his expertise within the Central University Library system. This year, he was able to facilitate a campus-wide subscription to the important disciplinary resource AnthroSource (from the American Anthropological Association). In his role as Adjunct Lecturer, John continues to teach high-enrollment evening courses on North American Indians (ANTH 3353), Psychological Anthropology (ANTH 3303), and Clash of Cultures (CF 3333) as well as a popular May term course on the Southwest at the SMU-in-Taos program. |
