ACTIVITIES DURING THE YEAR

Welcoming Party August 25, 2006

The year began with a party at the home of the department chair, as new students and new faculty members mingled with established members of the departmental community.

Día de los Muertos (October 30, 2006)

The annual celebration of the “Day of the Dead” continued with another opportunity of reflection and commemoration for the beloved ancestors of faculty, staff, and students in the departmental community.

The Annual Holiday Celebration

Because of overflowing participation in recent years, the Holiday Celebration was moved from the Anthropology department’s fourth floor lounge/lobby area to Room 153 on the first floor of our building. For the first time ever, we had the opportunity to be at table together rather than share in our commensal celebration while attempting to balance a plate of food and a plastic drink cup.
