Dr. Wendorf's research interests include the archaeology
of the U.S. Southwest and North Africa, Paleolithic archaeology, and the origins
of agriculture. He is the founder of the Anthropology Department of Southern
Methodist University and of Fort Burgwin Research Center in Taos, New Mexico. As
the President of the Society of Professional Archaeologists (SOPA), Dr. Wendorf
is actively engaged in the management of cultural resources in the United
States. He is also the only University member of the National Academy of
Sciences.
