Sheryl Crow starts global warming tour at SMU

Singer Sheryl Crow began a bus tour of U.S. colleges to raise awareness about global warming on Monday, one of several high-profile celebrities to take up the cause of climate change.

Crow, a Grammy award winning singer/songwriter, will speak about the issue and sing at the college stops.

"I am here because the more I learn about global warming the more I feel compelled to do something in my own way whatever that is," she told reporters at SMU in Dallas as the tour began.

Accompanied by global warming activist Laurie David, Crow is traveling in a biodiesel-powered bus to university campuses with a final stop in Washington for Earth Day on April 22.

Please present some debates and/or events with something other than liberal issues.

We are having the coldest Spring in the HISTORY of NORTH TEXAS. I mowed the grass in the snow the other day!

I am not too sure about global warming. Remember the fear about the ICE AGE!! That "scare" wasn't all that long ago....

Class,

That debate is over. Put your lawnmower back in the garage, and catch up with the rest of the world. We will wait for you.

The debate most certainly is not over. It has yet to even begin. The current problem is that if you have a belief other than gloom and doom, you are playing "catch up" with the "rest of the world." Once people can listen to both sides of the issue without screaming that the world is coming to an end (see Al Gore), then honest debate can begin. Until then, smart liberals like anonymous will say stupid things ad nauseum.

If we must continue the debate with a few (sigh), fine. But meanwhile let's get busy. The consequences of doing nothing are so much more severe than any negative ($$$) impacts of being proactive. I'm trying to resist labeling the skeptics as greedy. But why else would they be so reluctant to follow the prudent path? If they are wrong, the consequences will be catastrophic.

Class1979,

And New York had little snow? The world's climate is a lot larger then the simple observations you make in Texas.

We won't hold it against you though, back in 79 geography wasn't what it is today.

Okay that was an idiotic comment. Geography is exactly what it was in 1979. Maybe you think global warming is making the cities float about, but New York City and Dallas have not moved in the last 30 years. Now I understand why the global warming alarmists are having such an easy time convincing people of the impending disaster. Here is a link to a good article on the subject. Mr. changing geography, it uses bug words--please use a dictionary to understand.

Glad to see a controversial topic exposed on the grounds of SMU an hope this is not a popular fad celebration event. Some of these underlying issues were forefront 30+ years ago (there) and di not get enough time/serious attention/or "funding" so that enough serious work would actually sustain. It would be productive if the MAJORITY of the class of 07 "enlisted" in some form of national service directly out of school before the next phase of life begins (whetehr it be focusing on this, energy, cost/availability of health care, military/peace etc etc. Once a consumer citizens seldom go back and time is lost.

There is no consensus on this issue. Please do not conclude there is. Hundreds of experts disagree.

Global Warming... Right or wrong, people in this country should take responsiblity for their consumption habits. If we, as a country, were more conciencious about how and what we consumed, chances are, there would not be at war in the Middle East right now. As a people, we should stop waiting for government and experts and do what is right and good for our wonderful gift, the earth.
