Linda Pitts Custard exemplifies the selfless volunteer leadership that is vital in meeting community needs and enriching the lives of Dallas citizens. She sustained her demanding civic activities while earning an M.B.A. degree in 1999 from SMU’s Cox School of Business. She previously attended SMU with the undergraduate class of 1960 before graduating from Mills College in Oakland, California.

Custard has given dedicated service to civic arts institutions and SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts. She served as chair of the International Festival of Opening Events for the Meadows Museum and the Jubilee Opening of the Greer Garson Theatre. She currently is a director of the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Foundation and chair of its President’s Advisory Board. Her generous support of SMU includes an endowment for President’s Scholarships.

Custard is a trustee of SMU and the Hoblitzelle Foundation and secretary of Communities Foundation of Texas. She is a life trustee of The Hockaday School, Dallas Theater Center and Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Her recent honors include the Junior League of Dallas Lifetime Achievement Award, Cox School of Business Distinguished Alumni Award, Maura Award for Women Helping Women, TACA/Neiman Marcus Silver Cup Award and Association of Fundraising Executives Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year Award.
