KARLA BARRON ’02

Karla is married to Joel Barron. She is an underwriter at JPMorgan Chase. As the first college graduate of her entire family, she is involved with the SMU Program Council, Student Senate, Mustang Marathon, New Student Programs, and in 2001, she succeeded in chartering a new multicultural sorority on SMU’s campus: Kappa Delta Chi.

John is married to Kathaleen Bauer, and they have an adult daughter, Julie Bauer Meeske. An honorary SMU Letterman, John is an attorney, and while he loves art and is passionate about SMU and fishing, his love of friends and family is always at the center of his life.

Derrick is currently the Associate Dean and Director of MBA Admissions for Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. A member of Sigma Chi, Derrick was the first African American President of the Student Body at SMU. He has also served on SMU’s Young Alumni Board.
STEPHEN CORLEY ’90

Stephen is married to Michele Corley and lives in Napa Valley, California. At SMU, Stephen was (and continues to be) active with Sigma Chi. He was also involved with IFC and Alpha Beta Psi. Stephen participated in the SMU-at-Oxford program. His brother Michael Corley graduated SMU in 1988, also from Cox School of Business.
Stephen received degrees in Marketing and Accounting, which served him well during his seven years at KPMG in Atlanta and then in London before returning (literally) to his roots in California. Along with his two brothers and father, he runs the Monticello Vineyards and winery in Napa Valley, founded by his father in 1970. Stephen also serves as Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Napa Valley Vintners, Auction Napa Valley, and the Napa Valley Community Health Center.

Jennifer is married to Mike Cronin and they have a 4-month-old son, Jack. She works in their family business, Cheerleading.com, as a Buyer and helps with marketing. Jennifer was a member of Pi Beta Phi and served on the Student Foundation, Program Council, Student Center Governing Board, and Student Senate. As an alumna, she remains dedicated to instilling in current and prospective students the same pride and connection that she feels with SMU.

Regina is a Senior Human Resources Operations Coordinator and handles recruiting for Ernest & Young LLP. Regina holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree with concentration in Psychology. During her time at SMU, she was involved with the Association of Black Students, the Program Council, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., New Student Programs and the Voices of Inspiration Gospel Choir. Regina understands the importance of believing in her ability to achieve her goals, and she is passionate about encouraging others to believe they can do the same thing.

Stephanie is married to John Dowdall ’79 and they have three sons, Preston (20), Robert (18), and Mark (14). She was involved with the Student Foundation and Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. The focus of her life remains her family, faith, and friends.

Mary Lou is married to David Gibbons ’78 and they have three children, Jack (20, a sophomore at SMU), Mary Louise (18), and Thomas (15). She was a member of Delta Delta Delta.

Kim is married to Lewis Amos, and they live in Atlanta. In addition to their two dogs, they are expecting their first child in August 2007. Kim was involved with many activities on campus, including Student Senate, Student Foundation, Senior Class Council, Panhellenic, and the development committee of the board of trustees. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi and continues to stay involved with its alumnae group. Kim’s primary experience as an alumna has been with regional programs; she led the New York chapter for five years before moving to Atlanta, where she has headed up that chapter since 2002.

Stewart is married to Kristin Henderson ’82. They have three children, Will (19 years), Clay (17 years), and Matt (14 years). He is currently a Managing Director at JP Morgan Chase Private Bank in Ft. Worth and is passionate about his family and golf. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta and his best SMU memory is beating UT in football his senior year.

Tomeka is married to Keith Herod and they have an 18-month old son, Nicholas. She is VP of Administration with The Wilkins Group, Inc. Her favorite SMU memory is the Celebration of Lights. While attending SMU, Tomeka taught CCTR 2304 Basic Production: Audio and Video, a media lab, for the department’s Cinema-Television program. She was also the proud recipient of a Meadows School of the Arts merit scholarship and graduate assistantship. She is most passionate about her family.

Blackie is married to Judy Holmes ’63. They have three children, Jimmy ’90, Randell, and Tucker ’97. He is an attorney with Burford & Ryburn, LLP. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He remembers fondly holding seats at Moody Coliseum for the SMU-Kansas basketball game where Wilt Chamberlain played on the opposing team.

Ruth is married to Roman Kupchynsky, II ’80. They have two sons, Roman, III 20 years and a current SMU student, and Robert (17 years). She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and loves returning to SMU for her reunions. She and her husband are still best friends with their classmates.

David is married to Elizabeth Gillette. They have a daughter, Zoe. David is Associate VP of Development at DePaul University. His favorite SMU memory is his study abroad program in Oxford. David grew up on the SMU campus while his father worked at the University.

Ken has two sons, Ben (22 years) and Clay (19 years). He is Market CEO at Humana, Inc. The best part of being an SMU alumnus for Ken is the opportunity to network with a broad cross-section of inter-generational alums. Ken currently sits on the Cox Executive Board and this is his third term on the Alumni Board.

Marcus and his wife, Heather, have two daughters, Morgan (5) and Mallory (3). He is Senior Vice President and Client Advisor at the Private Bank of Bank of America. Marcus attended SMU on a full-athletic scholarship and graduated with a BBA in Finance/Real Estate with a minor in Economics. He received his MBA from Duke University, and holds the Certified Financial Planner designation as well as the Series 7, 24, 53, 63 and 66 Securities licenses. Marcus served as the 2006-2007 President of the SMU Alumni Board and is also a member of SMU’s Hegi Family Career Development Center Advisory Board.

Tamara is an attorney for Jones Day. She was involved in many activities on campus both as an undergraduate and law school student, including Program Council, Women’s Symposium, Delta Delta Delta sorority, and the SMU Law Review Association. She also had the privilege to serve as the Student Trustee to the SMU Board of Trustees and President of the Panhellenic Association. As an alumna, she believes in the importance of higher education as embodied by the University and the leadership opportunities that SMU provides to its students.

Ryan is married to Lauren McMonagle ’01 (whom he met at SMU) and they have a 5-month-old son, Johnny. Ryan is in private equity with Cervantes Capital. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha, Student Association and was a member of the Board of Trustees. He enjoys staying connected to the University and his friends.

Anne is married to Bruce Monning ’70. They have two grown children, Wright and Sarah ’00. She recalls being a hostess for Bob Hope at the new Bob Hope Theatre at Meadows. She is most passionate about her family, friends, the city of Dallas and SMU.

Jamie is married and has two children. Living in Dallas, Jamie enjoys the opportunity to continue building friendships and working with other SMU alumni on a daily basis – friendships that are enriched all the more as their children grow up together. Jamie was a member of Pi Beta Phi.

Dennis is married to Penny Murphree ’70. They have two grown children, Patrick ’97 (32 years) and Meg (26 years). He is in Venture Capital: Murphree Venture Partners. Dennis was a varsity cheerleader when SMU won the SWC in football, basketball and swimming. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and one of his fraternity brothers wrote the original script to “Animal House”.

Connie is married to Chris O’Neill ’75 and they have four children. Connie was a member of Chi Omega at SMU. This is Connie’s second term on the alumni board and she has also served on the Mustang Club board and the Annual Fund board. She is currently involved in leadership positions at the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and Children’s Medical Center Foundation.

Mark is an attorney for Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. Mark is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha and was “mysteriously” linked to the stealing of Kip’s Big Boy during his time as a Pike at SMU. Mark was in the band while at SMU, highlights of which were performing at the football games played in Japan and Hawaii.

Tracy is an attorney and is most passionate about bring legal knowledge to people who can’t afford legal representation. She was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority while at SMU and was President of MOVE, which sought out and sent volunteers for efforts in Dallas and around the country.

Tom is married to Debra Yenne. They have two children, Jordan (28 years) and Andrew ’05 (24 years). He is the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Highlands Bancshares in Dallas. Tom’s experience at SMU as a member of the Mustang Band shaped his future volunteer involvement at SMU where he has served as the president of the Mustang Club as well as serving on the Board of Trustees committees on External Affairs and Athletics.
