Tali Koerner
received a B.A. in Advertising from Brigham Young University
and a Masters of Liberal Arts degree from SMU. A member of
the SMU admission staff since 2003, Tali loves sharing her
enthusiasm about SMU with students and their families.
In the spring of 2007, Tali transitioned to a regional
office in Salt Lake City. Although Salt Lake City is now
her home base, she spends a significant amount of time in
the Dallas office and in her territory on the east coast.
Tali works with students from Virginia, Maryland, Georgia,
Washington D.C., Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana, Arizona,
Oregon, Washington, and Alaska.
Why SMU?
If you’ve ever been to visit, you know why. Not only is the
campus absolutely beautiful, it is perfectly situated within
the city. Just minutes away from the fast-paced atmosphere
of downtown, it sits comfortably in the Park Cities
neighborhood. The campus is great, the people are friendly
and the value of the education is second to none.
College Search Tip
Applying to college can be a fun and a stressful time. The
best way to make it more fun and less stressful is to keep
yourself organized!
-
As
you research and visit colleges, create a file for each
individual college to which you plan to apply and
include a checklist of the required admission items:
transcripts, application fees, recommendations, essays,
test scores, etc. As each item is mailed, check it
off.
-
Pay
special attention to deadlines and mark them down on
your personal calendar.
-
Practice filling out applications on a photocopy of the
application rather than taking a pen straight to the
original. Many colleges also have electronic
applications that can be filled out and submitted
online.
-
Before you submit an application, make a photocopy of
all of the forms, letters, essays, etc. and keep them in
your filing system.
Remember, this should be an exciting time. Stay organized
and the college application process can be a breeze!
