Where art meets life
Welcome to Meadows School of the Arts
at SMU
Meadows School of the Arts at SMU is known as one of the
nations leading arts schools. It brings together dancers, musicians,
singers, artists and actors to study side-by-side with future advertising
and corporate communications professionals, journalists and cinematographers
in a school offering a rich variety of arts studies.
Faculty members at Meadows are world-class performers, authors and journalists who are highly accessible to students and who
possess a collective focus on the complete student experience.
Meadows offers students pursuing an education in the performing
arts the advantage
of a conservatory atmosphere in a liberal arts setting. Unlike
traditional conservatory students, most earn a degree rather than
a certificate. That means all the worlds a stage when it comes
to choosing a career.
SMUs location gives Meadows students direct access to some
of the nations greatest arts venues and organizations, including
major broadcast and print media, the Dallas Museum of Art,
the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the Dallas Opera; a local gallery
scene; and SMUs own Meadows Museum collection of Spanish art. Communications
students benefit from more than 1,500 regional and corporate headquarters
and 136,000 businesses in the Dallas area.
