Dear SPSS Customer:
The purpose of this e-mail is to inform you of some planned changes to the user interface in our SPSS Trends and SPSS Tables add-on modules with the release of SPSS 16.0 for Windows.
First, some background: when SPSS released SPSS 11.5, we came out with a new Tables module. Even though the functionality in the old Tables module (Tables Original) was subsumed by the new SPSS Tables module, we kept all the original dialogs to make the transition easier for customers. We did the same thing when we migrated from Trends Original to the current Trends module in SPSS 13.0.
With the release of SPSS 16.0, we will remove all the old dialogs that still remain from the Trends Original and Tables Original add-on modules. Although the user interface to these older modules will be removed, your existing syntax from Tables Original and Trends Original will continue to work. This will allow us to focus on developing new features and enhancements that are important to customers, instead of supporting redundant features.
Here are the details for each module:
SPSS TRENDS 16.0?the following three dialogs will be removed:
* Exponential Smoothing
* Autoregression
* ARIMA
The remaining dialogs include:
* Create Models
* Apply Models
* Seasonal Decomposition
* Spectral Analysis
SPSS TABLES 16.0?the following four dialogs will be removed:
* Basic Tables
* General Tables
* Multiple Response Tables
* Tables of Frequencies
The remaining dialogs include:
* Custom Tables
* Multiple Response Sets
Again, all the features previously found in the removed dialogs will be available through the use of syntax.
Sincerely,
SPSS Inc.
