SPSS 16 - system requirements

-------------------------------------------------------------

SPSS MAC users: 12/3/2007 SPSS 16 for MAC has arrived. The following was received from SPSS 6/19/2007, and applies to users of SPSS on MAC platforms:

SPSS Mac version 16 (due end of Sep - early Oct 2007)  will be a Universal Binary and compatible with PowerPC and Intel based Mac hardware.
SPSS does not support the use of any existing version of SPSS for Mac OS X on the new Intel(r)-based Mac hardware, including SPSS 11.x or 13.0. The use of the Rosetta emulation software Apple uses to enable PowerPC-based applications to run on its Intel(r) hardware interferes with the numerical calculations in SPSS. Additionally, SPSS does not support the use of SPSS for Windows under emulation or dual-booting - including Boot Camp, Parallels and VirtualPC. We therefore are currently unable to support any version of SPSS on Intel(r)-based Macintosh machines.
