Podcasting is a new way for SMU to make lectures, interviews, events, and similar materials available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. SMUCAST is your portal to SMU-related public podcasts and other media-rich content. This site also contains information on how to create your own programming for this exciting new medium.

PODCAST TRAINING.
Academic Computing Services offerd three Podcasting classes in the Fall and expects to repeat one or more of these in the Spring. Watch this space! Some of the topics that we covered in past sessions include:
- What is a Podcast; Examples of academic podcasts;
- Common concerns such as impact of coursecasting on attendance and Intellectual Property;
- Recording your podcast using an MP3 player and microphone;
- Putting your podcast on the Internet;
- Quick and dirty audio editing with Audacity;
- How people can subscribe to your podcast using RSS;
- How faculty can apply for a Coursecasting Kit.
SMU BOARD OF TRUSTEES.
Randall Powell, Associate Vice President for Budgets and Information Technology Services, introduced SMU's Trustees to the many Podcasts and Webcasts we already have online. The Trustees saw a number of examples and were even able to experience Podcasts from the student perspective on ten MP3 players distributed during the meeting. [ Listen to this enhanced Podcast.]
FUNDING FOR COURSECASTING KITS.
The Teaching Technology Group has approved matching funding for Academic Computing Services to purchase ten Faculty Coursecasting Kits consisting of an MP3 player, microphone, and software--everything necessary to create a Coursecast..Click to apply for one of these kits.
