ACS: Course Management Systems

ACS currently supports one course management system: Blackboard. A CMS makes it easy for you to put course materials on the Web, communicate electronically with students, give online exams or surveys, and maintain grades. SMU offered WebCT from 1998 until fall 2006.  Blackboard is currently our only course management system at this time.  About 120 faculty and 6000 students currently use the Blackboard system.

Faculty are encouraged to contact us if you need help with:

The home page for CMS is http://courses.smu.edu which also links to a variety of help files, including forms for faculty to request courses.

Faculty should also consider subscribing to the Blackboard electronic list: bbfaculty. These are low volume lists that distribute important information about upcoming changes and enhancements. To subscribe, visit http://list.smu.edu
