Registration opens April 1, 2016.
Check out our AARO Registration Tips for step by step instructions on registering for AARO! All students will log in and register for AARO through My.SMU
AARO is the first part of the orientation process designed to assist you in making a comfortable transition to life at SMU. Transfer AARO is a half day orientation program for transfer students enrolling in fall. Programs provide academic requirements and expectations, campus resources, involvement opportunities and the chance to meet current students. During your AARO session, you will also meet one-on-one with an academic advisor and register for fall classes. Check-in for AARO will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the main level of the Hughes-Trigg Student Center.
You cannot register for orientation, be advised or register for classes until your admission deposit is paid, your final transcript and Good Standing form from previous colleges and universities have been received and processed by the Division of Enrollment Services, and the Health Center receives proof of your meningitis vaccination. This process takes a minimum of two weeks.
Please read our New Student Transition Guide before attending AARO. This online PDF provides a checklist of what to complete prior to attending AARO, an overview of what happens during AARO, and tips for what students should do after attending AARO.
Please DO NOT make travel arrangements until you have registered for orientation and received a confirmation email for your AARO session. Registration for AARO will be available at the end March for students who have paid their deposit.
