Stormy Lemond

Assessment Specialist and Secondary Mathematics Instructional Facilitator

Stormy Lemond is the Assessment Specialist and Secondary Mathematics Instructional Facilitator for Forney ISD. She is responsible for curriculum and assessment development for middle school and high school mathematics. Through collaboration with secondary math teachers, she works to develop engaging lessons and promote technology integration in order to make learning relevant for all students. As the Assessment Specialist, Stormy also oversees the implementation of all local district assessments, along with state and federal accountability regulations.

Stormy has presented at local and state conferences on topics including instructional strategies, data driven instruction, technology integration in mathematics, and professional learning communities. Through the Region 10 service center she has also worked in numerous districts providing the 2-day Algebra I EOC Success Training and conducting STAAR informational sessions for Algebra I and Geometry. Most recently, Stormy has been working with SMU and their Research in Mathematics Education department writing and reviewing questions for a new math program.

While earning her master’s degree, Stormy was challenged by a professor to reinvent education to meet the needs of students. While researching this topic she learned that many students enjoyed Project Based Learning because it combined their interests with the required knowledge. Since then, Stormy has become passionate about making the overall education experience more purposeful. She feels that a school system should promote more than just a high school diploma by allowing students to explore potential career opportunities that might align with their personal interests.

Educationally, Stormy earned a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics at the University of North Texas. She has her Master of Education from Texas A&M Commerce and has completed 12 hours of doctoral work with Stephen F. Austin University. In addition to being certified in secondary mathematics, she also has her Principal and Superintendent certification. Prior to working at the curriculum level, she taught math at both the high school and middle school levels. In 2010, Stormy received the District Academic Professional of the Year Award for Forney ISD.
