Work with RME
RME is always looking for qualified mathematicians, math teachers, and math coaches to partner with us in many ways. Two opportunities that are always on-going are item writing and item reviewing.
Item writing (writing test questions) is an important component of work that is done at RME. These items range all grades from pre-kindergarten to 8th grade, and are written to align with multiple mathematics content standards. RME provides training and writing can be done on-site or off campus.
Item reviewing takes place after an item has been written. We review an item for language, visual representation, and mathematical content including vocabulary and concepts. In addition, reviewers examine each item for potential bias and to evaluate the effectiveness of the distractors.
If you are interested in serving as a writer or reviewer, please note your qualifications by clicking this link and following the instruction in the online form. We’d love to have you join the RME team!
2013 RME Conference
Reaching Out in North Texas
RME serves as a hub of professional outreach in North Texas, partnering with educators, mathematicians and experts impacting classrooms and educators at every level. RME held its first research-to-practice conference in February 2012. The goal of the conference was to share the latest innovations and most current thinking in mathematics education today. More than 140 educators across the state attended this groundbreaking conference, and the event garnered overwhelmingly enthusiastic and favorable response.
On February 15, 2013, RME's second conference commenced with more than 200 participants, exceeding capacity for this event. Dallas ISD Superintendent Mike Miles was the luncheon keynote speaker and the linchpin of the conference theme, Bridging Research & Practice: Explore, Participate, Engage. Educators, researchers, mathematics experts and master practitioners completed the roster of presenters. Two expert panels bookended a day filled with breakout sessions exploring significant and timely topics in STEM, pedagogical knowledge, research in algebra, assessments and community engagement.
The RME conference would not be possible without the generous support of The Meadows Foundation.
