Promoting Algebra Readiness: Develoing a Startegic Intervention on Rational Number Concepts (Project PAR)

Project PAR will implement in three phases; building the curriculum and intervention strategies in year one, executing a feasibility study in year two, and a pilot study in year three to determine if the intervention is operating as intended.

All phases of this three-year, IES funded study will cycle through development, observation, analysis and refinement. The small scale feasibility study in year two will assess the promise and effectiveness of the intervention. The pilot study in year three will deliver all 100 PAR lessons to groups of 4-6 students for 30 minutes per day, 4-5 days per week. During the pilot study, data will be collected in treatment and comparison conditions using multiple measures including, but not limited to, observation systems, teacher surveys, and student mathematic performance to examine the potential promise of the PAR intervention for increasing student achievement.
