Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Inventory


The Diagnostic Center at SMU-in-Plano offers a career planning service for individuals aged 14 or older, using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Inventory.  The MBTI Inventory is highly individualized and provides insight to help direct career planning and study strategies based on a person's unique personality and strengths. 

Cost: $120
Nonrefundable payment of $60 is required to access the inventory online.  Final payment is due at the time of conference.

Group Information

To schedule an MBTI Inventory appointment, please contact the Diagnostic Center at 214/768-7323. 

Once the nonrefundable appointment fee has been processed, you will receive a pass code.  The pass code will allow the test-taker to access the MBTI Inventory online at his or her convenience.  Results will automatically be sent to the SMU Diagnostic Center for evaluation.  A representative from our office will subsequently contact you to schedule a conference with one of our Educational Diagnosticians.  Once the testing results are received by the Diagnostic Center, your conference will be scheduled within 2 weeks.  At the one-hour conference, the diagnostician will discuss the results of your personality and career profiles, and you will receive those documents for your continued reference.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: $120.00.  An initial nonrefundable $60 fee is required to access the MBTI Inventory online.  The remaining $60 is due at the time of conference.

Q: What forms of payment are accepted?
A: Visa, MasterCard and Check payments are accepted.  Checks should be made payable to Southern Methodist University.

Q: How does the process work?
A: Once the initial fee is paid, you will receive a pass code.  The pass code will allow you to take the MBTI Inventory online at your convenience.  Once the test has been completed, we will contact you to schedule a conference.  At the one-hour conference, our diagnostician will go over the test results with you.  This includes a personality profile and career profile. 

Q: How long does the process take?
A: The estimated time to complete the MBTI Inventory is approximately 20-30 minutes.  Once you have completed the test, your conference will be scheduled within 2 weeks.

Q: How difficult is the test?
A: All questions are multiple-choice, and are written at a reading level no higher than 7th grade.  No assistance or input from others is permitted for answering the questions.  If you need questions read to you, please let us know.  We can arrange this service with one of our staff members.  If you truly do not understand a question, skip it. 

Q: What if I do not have a computer?
A: Please let us know.  We can arrange a time for you to complete the inventory at our center.

Q: Do you offer group rates for schools?
A: Yes.  We offer a group rate for groups of students numbering 10 or more, with a maximum of 25.
