Second Year, Fourth Semester
As well as having successfully passed all first year course
work a trainee must also satisfactorily complete both Practicum Courses and have
a total of 120 clinical teaching hours in order to pursue advanced course work or
have permission from the Clinical Teaching Board.
EDU 6332/Advanced Course A, Advanced Cognitive and Linguistic Structures
of Written Language, Part I: Overview of advanced dyslexia instruction.
Introduces upper levels of the curriculum. Begins instruction in the more
complex aspects of the English written code.
Second Year, Fifth Semester
EDU 6333/Advanced Course B, Advanced Cognitive and Linguistic Structures of Written Language,
Part II: Continuation of instruction in Curriculum Level III.
Refinement of previously developed procedures and techniques, phonetic
irregularities, and semantic and syntactic structures.
EDU 6102/Practicum Experience: Clinical teaching and therapy practices. Requires
clinical teaching reports and two therapy demonstrations. Students continue to
work with advisors.
Second Year, Sixth Semester
EDU 6233/Advanced Course C, Advanced Cognitive & Linguistic Structures of
Written Language, Part III: Continuation and completion of instruction in
advanced levels of curriculum. Acquisition of more sophisticated therapy
techniques, including transition and closure. Review of record keeping and
student progress measurement. Discussion of professional dyslexia-related
