Dr. Jeffrey N. Turner was named Superintendent of Schools for the
Coppell Independent School District on May 9, 2002 by the CISD Board of
Trustees. He began his eleventh year of service to the district in the
summer of 2012.
With more than 34 years of experience in public education, Dr. Turner
started his career as a middle school science teacher in the Clear Creek
Independent School District prior to entering an administrative
leadership role in 1984 in Van ISD. He has served in the role of
superintendent since 1991 in three other school districts including
Burleson, Jacksonville, and Van.
Dr. Turner has served on various boards during his career and as a
Mentor Superintendent for the Texas Association of School Administrators
(TASA). He is currently the President of the TASA organization. Among
his many accomplishments and honors, selected as the Texas AASA
Superintendent of the Year for 2012. In addition, Dr. Turner serves on
the design team of the Visioning Institute: a cadre of some 30
superintendents, representing diverse public school systems from across
the state, whose focus is on the development of a new model for public
education centered on 21st century learning.
Originally from Deer Park, Texas, Dr. Turner earned his bachelor's and
doctoral degrees from Baylor University. He received his master's degree
in educational administration from the University of Houston, Clear Lake
Campus. Dr. Turner's ties to public education began with his parents,
who were both educators, and continue with his wife, a retired high
school counselor, and older daughter who is in her ninth year of
teaching in the area. His youngest daughter also launched her career in
education as a licensed Texas attorney who practices school law in
Austin. |
