I am currently the Program Specialist for transition services for the
Richardson Independent School District. I facilitate transition services
including staff development and compliance with state and federal
indicators. In addition, I am the administrator of The Transition
Program, which serves students 18-22 years of age who are working on
independent living skills and employability skills.
I graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1974 with a duel degree
in elementary education, K-8th grade and a special education degree
supporting all grade levels. My Master's degree is in Developmental
Disabilities with an administrative endorsement in Supervision at
Montana State University at Billings. As part of my degree, I worked in
the hospital at the University of Washington focused on the low
incidence populations.
My diverse experiences have made a significant impression forming my
philosophy regarding the rights of all individuals. I feel it is
imperative for everyone to have the choice to decide if they want to
become productive citizens, integrated in their communities and living
fulfilling lives. I also realized everyone sees their path differently.
Over the 31 years of my career with the public school system I have been
assisting students, families and districts to access the resources
available to help make those dreams come true……Transitioning from one
phase of life to another as a Transition Specialist. |
