Alison Griffin has over twelve years of professional experience in
higher education policy. Currently, Alison is the Founder, and serves as
the Principal at Miles Above Strategies, a higher education policy and
government relations practice that provides strategic and legislative
guidance to non-profit and for-profit education clients, organizations
and associations.
Previously, Alison served as Senior Associate with HCM Strategists in
Washington, D.C., where she was federal policy liaison to the Lumina
Foundation, the nation's largest higher education foundation, and was
project manager for an 11 state higher education productivity agenda
initiative.
Her prior experience also includes serving as Associate Director of a
Washington, D.C. – based education consulting firm from 2006-2008. In
2001 and again from 2003-2006, Alison worked as a policy advisor on
higher education issues to the Chair of the House of Representatives
Committee on Education and Workforce, Rep. John Boehner, who currently
is the Speaker of the House. Prior to that, Alison was a policy
associate with the American Association of State Colleges and
Universities (AASCU) in Washington, D.C.
Alison is active in many non-profit and volunteer service roles across
the country, serving on the Executive Board for Delta Delta Delta
International Fraternity; the Board of Trustees to Rocky Vista
University in Parker, Colorado; the Board of Advisers to the Annette
Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development at Southern
Methodist University; and the Board of Directors of the Colorado
Scholarship Coalition in Denver, Colorado. Alison is the Communications
Director for Discovery Christian Church in Broomfield, Colorado, where
she is also a member of the Building and Campaign Committee.
Alison earned her M.Ed. in College Student Affairs Administration from
the University of Georgia, a Bachelor in Business Administration in
Organizational behavior and Business Policy and a Bachelor of Arts in
Psychology from Southern Methodist University.
Alison resides in Broomfield, CO with her husband Paul, a federal
lobbyist for Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association and their
two sons, Nicholas (4) and Benjamin (2). |
