There are strategic transition points in the early childhood through
higher education pipeline where students are not supported to move
forward with adequate preparation for the next challenge. These
transition points need to be structured for success so students are
not lost to dropping out emotionally or academically. The impact of
inadequate preparation is significant for employers and has an
enormous negative outcome economically for our nation.
Please join us as we work to define the problems of transition at
each stress point in the early childhood to the workplace pipeline,
including higher education/post-secondary training. We will feature
successful models of collaboration and support at the transition
points, and promote collaboration between educational agencies,
non-profit organizations, governmental agencies, and employers.
The faculty of the Department of Education Policy and Leadership dedicate their
research and program design to finding solutions to contemporary problems in
education. It is our belief that poorly crafted or poorly implemented policies
and a lack of leadership preparation and development are problems that stand in
the way of reforming schools to promote higher student achievement. The goal of
this conference is to illuminate the problems related to policy and leadership
and to explore solutions to those problems from a variety of perspectives.
