Dispute Resolution Tuition Scholarships

SMU Center for Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management Distinguished Scholar

Awarded to the most promising incoming Dispute Resolution Master's student. Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in the field of conflict management and peace either in their studies, personal or professional work. For an application to be considered it must be fully completed.

This scholarship awards the recipient two courses for the tuition fee of one course for four consecutive terms. The student must be enrolled in a minimum of two courses for four consecutive terms excluding summer. 

Application Requirements:

  1. Completed application form below including 500 word essay
  2. Statement demonstrating financial need
  3. Uploaded resume
  4. Letter of Recommendation submitted by the recommender to disputeresolution@smu.edu

Director's Awards of Excellence

Awarded to incoming Dispute Resolution master's or certificate students. Qualifying factors may include academic merit, dedication to the field of dispute resolution, and financial need. For an application to be considered it must be fully completed.

This scholarship awards the recipient four classes at 1/3 of the tuition for each class, to be applied over two or four terms. 

Application Requirements:

  1. Completed application form below including 250 word essay
  2. Statement demonstrating financial need
  3. Uploaded resume
  4. Letter of Recommendation submitted by the recommender to disputeresolution@smu.edu

Dispute Resolution Scholar Award (One Scholarship Available per Term)

Awarded to current Dispute Resolution master's and certificate students who demonstrate academic success and financial need. Scholarship Application must be submitted by the 1st Friday during a registration period.

Based on availability, the scholarship awarded may be 1/3 or 1/2 of the tuition fee for one course, or the full tuition fee for one course.

Study Abroad Scholarship

Awarded to current Dispute Resolution master's and certificate students who demonstrate the applicability of the study abroad course to their academic and professional career goals. Students must also demonstrate financial responsibility for any tuition balance remaining and additional study abroad expenses. The number of awards and scholarship amount will be applied at the discretion of the Director.
