The Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education & Human Development in conjunction with the Cox School of Business is pleased to announce the new graduate program in Sport Management. The inaugural class will be limited to a cohort of 25 students who will begin their studies at SMU in August 2013.
SMU’s Master of Science in Sport Management degree is a full-time, 12-month program designed for students who have a passion for the business of sport and who aspire to hold senior-management positions in the multi-billion dollar sports industry. The program is led by sport management professionals with decades of executive experience in a wide range of segments including professional leagues and teams, media and broadcasting, marketing and sponsorship, facilities and sports equipment and apparel. Students will learn important business skills from faculty at the SMU Cox School of Business, ranked nationally by leading business journals.
An experiential learning approach will provide students with “real life” case studies and networking through symposiums, mentorships and internships with some of the most prominent sports leaders and organizations in the United States.
Fall 2013 Term Application Deadlines
- Priority 1 – February 15, 2013
- Priority 2 – March 15, 2013
- Priority 3 – May 1, 2013
Priority 1 – February 15: All required application materials must be received by this date in order for an application to be considered complete and ready for review. Those who wish to receive an early admissions decision are encouraged to submit their application materials by the Priority 1 deadline.
Priority 2 – March 15: All required application materials must be received by this date in order for an application to be considered complete and ready for review. Prospective students who missed the Priority 1 deadline are encouraged to submit their application materials by the Priority 2 deadline.
Priority 3 – by May 1: Prospective students may submit their application materials no later than May 1st. Once all materials are submitted and received, the application will be reviewed and a decision will be sent to the student, within 4 – 6 weeks. Due to heavy volume, it is recommended that prospective students submit all application materials before the the Priority 3 deadline.
Tuition
The tuition rate for the Masters in Sport Management Program is as follows:
1 – 11 Student Credit Hours - $1,550/credit hour
12 – 18 Student Credit Hours (per semester) - $19,344
The General Student Fee is as follows:
1 – 11 Student Credit Hours - $207/credit hour
12+ Student Credit Hours (per semester) - $2,465
