January 2013 - Dr. Scott Davis awarded a research grant from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to determine the clinical implications of impaired baroreflex function in individuals with MS.

January 2013 - Dr. Scott Davis awarded an R15 Academic Research Enhancement Award (AREA) grant from National Institutes of Health Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute to study the effects of multiple sclerosis on dynamic blood pressure control and orthostatic tolerance.

December 2012 - Drs. Scott Davis and Megan Murphy awarded an Instructional Technology grant from the SMU Office of the Provost to incorporate interactive dissection software into the Anatomy and Physiology curriculum.

September 2012 - Construction of environmental chamber located within Applied Physiology Laboratory completed.

June 2012 - Dr. Scott Davis awarded a grant from the Kuzell Institute to study the effects of moderate exercise in a warm environment on thermoregulatory function in individuals with MS.

Spring 2012 - Applied Physiology and Enterprise students enroll in Research Practicum classes allowing top performing students to work closely with research faculty in their respective laboratories.

January 2012 - Dr. Jeffrey Hastings, cardiologist at the VA Hospital named Medical Director of the Applied Physiology Laboratory.

January 2012 - Dr. Scott Davis awarded a University Research Council grant by the SMU Office of Research and Graduate Studies to study the effects of head cooling on thermoregulation and orthostatic tolerance during whole-body heating.

September 2011 - First semester Applied Physiology & Enterprise laboratory courses taught in the new Teaching Pods of the Applied Physiology Laboratory.

August 2011 - Dr. Megan Murphy, Clinical Assistant Professor, joined the Department of Applied Physiology & Wellness and the research faculty of the Applied Physiology Laboratory.

Summer 2011 - First research study, a pilot study, examining the effects of cooling during whole-body heating on orthostatic tolerance is performed in the Applied Physiology Laboratory.

September 2010 - Annette Caldwell Simmons Hall dedication.

Summer 2010 - Dr. Scott Davis is named Director of the Applied Physiology Laboratory.  Kelyn Rola is named the Laboratory Manager of the Applied Physiology Laboratory.
