Brian Fennig came to Southern Methodist University in the spring of 2001 and joined the Wellness Department as a lecturer, where he teaches both Personal Responsibility and Wellness and Individual Fitness. He earned his Bachelor of Kinesiology and Health Science in 1989 and his Master of Education in 1990 from Stephen F. Austin State University. He has been the recipient of the HOPE award and has been recognized as faculty of the month by the National Residence Hall Honorary. He has participated in many Mustang Corral sessions as a faculty mentor, involvement speaker and sneak preview provider.

Prior to coming to Southern Methodist University, Brian taught high school biology, worked as a fitness specialist at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas and earned his second Master's Degree in Liberal Arts at Southern Methodist University in 1997. With an emphasis in music, technology and mythology, he is currently completing his Ph.D. in Humanities at the University of Texas at Dallas.

In his spare time, Brian writes and performs with his band Fennig as a drummer and singer. He has been active in the local poetry community and has several small press publications, including his most recent works found in Forces: a Literary Journal. Brian is an avid soccer fan, has worked for and attended the FIFA World Cup finals in The United States, Japan/Korea, Germany, and South Africa.
