SMU has proven that investment in scholarships and student recruitment and retention strengthens the University's ability to compete nationally for top students. Over the past decade, applications to SMU have nearly doubled, SAT scores have risen by 98 points and selectivity has increased. Through The Second Century Campaign, SMU must continue to:

  • Expand existing scholarship programs, such as President's Scholars and Leadership Scholars.
  • Create new scholarships tailored to specific schools and courses of study.
  • Establish and expand programs that foster leadership and personal development.
  • Provide global scholarships that give more students the opportunity to study abroad.
  • Increase graduate fellowships to recruit students for key academic programs and vital research.
