SMU was founded to serve the most important education needs of our
city, region and nation. This vision includes graduating students for successful
careers in a variety of fields, such as education, as well as providing educational
offerings outside traditional degree programs. As the University enters its second
century, it remains committed to this purpose. A significant new gift from Harold
C. Simmons and Annette Caldwell Simmons ’57 provides permanent resources for the
students, faculty, facility and programs of the Annette Caldwell Simmons School
of Education and Human Development. Their generosity elevates the school’s national
profile and strengthens the educational offerings it provides Dallas and the nation.
