Dedman school of law alumni give $1 million for endowed professorship to reinvest in SMU, Dallas - Les Ware and Amy Abboud Ware have given $1 million to SMU Dedman School of Law not only to establish an endowed professorship at their alma mater, but also to reinvest in their home city of Dallas. $1.5 million gift to fund endowed chair in Art History at SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts - A $1.5 million gift from the Kleinheinz Family Endowment for the Arts and Education will establish an endowed chair in the Division of Art History at SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts. “We are deeply grateful to the Kleinheinz Family Endowment for its generosity and visionary support,” said SMU President R. Gerald Turner. “This gift will enable Meadows School of the Arts to add further strength to the faculty and academic offerings in one of the school’s leading departments. The gift supports a major goal of SMU’s Second Century Campaign to endow 100 faculty positions and brings the current total to 86.” (12/7/2012)

SMU graduates Stephen and Kathryn Arata honor favorite professor with $1.25 million professorship - Two SMU graduates are showing appreciation for a professor who made a lasting impact on their lives by establishing an endowed professorship in his honor. The $1.25 million gift from Stephen L. and Kathryn Hedges Arata of Dallas will create the Jeremy duQuesnay Adams Centennial Professorship in Western European Medieval History in honor of the longtime SMU professor, who will continue to teach in the University’s Clements Department of History. Gift from Crain Foundation to provide Centennial Promenade at SMU - A generous gift from The Crain Foundation will enhance the SMU campus with a pedestrian walkway linking the Hughes-Trigg Student Center on the north with the new Residential Commons complex to be built on the southern end of the campus. Building for the future: Centennial Master Plan expands on founders’ vision - SMU is marking a milestone by reaching $610 million toward its Second Century Campaign goal of $750 million. A range of new initiatives to build and renovate campus facilities will be announced at a campus celebration at noon today (April 20), the first day of SMU’s 2012 Founders’ Day Weekend celebration.
