The Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) is devoted to discovering and sharing the best and most effective pedagogical strategies, and you will find in our activities a variety of ideas, methods, and approaches to help you achieve success in your teaching.
Teaching at a new institution can raise questions for experienced and new instructors alike. This part of the website, sponsored by CTE and the Office of the Provost is designed to address some of those questions and give a quick answer plus a resource to consult or contact for further information. The Office of the Provost also maintains a collection of faculty web resources that support faculty research, teaching, and professional development.
As your letters from the Provost’s office have informed you, new faculty Orientation will be held during the annual Teaching Effectiveness Symposium, held just before classes begin in August. CTE also offers the New Faculty Teaching Excellence workshop series, a year-long program just for new faculty, which focuses on enhancing teaching skills. And here are some resources with advice for course design, syllabus preparation, and teaching on the first day of class.
