The Business owner(s)

Business plan must be submitted by one or more students, but a maximum of five. Students' majors are not a factor in choosing the winning proposal. A mixture of upper and lower classmen is preferred, but not a requirement.

Faculty members and outside experts can provide advice or information, but you must be the one to develop, write and carry out your proposal. This should be your project.


The Proposal

Submit your proposal to by April 4, 2014.

Students must use the template format to submit their proposal. Students must also submit their proposal with the Terms of the program document, signed and dated by EACH member of the team.

Your proposal must include:
  1. Name of Business
  2. Ownership of Business
  3. Information on the Business
  4. Market Analysis
  5. Marketing Strategy
  6. The Competition
  7. Operations
  8. Management Plan
  9. Financial Analysis
  10. Appendix with Attachments of other documents of importance
The budget is subject to SMU grant expenditure policies, so the purchase of computing or video equipment must be specifically justified, and grant money can't be used to purchase phones.

Proposals will be reviewed by a panel appointed by the Provost in May. The panel will include students, faculty and members of the Dallas community.
