United Methodist Student Loans

Eligibility

The United Methodist Scholarship and Loan Programs are a churchwide educational service proviting scholarships and loans to help supplement the financial needs of today's students. Funding for these scholarships and loans are provided through offerings, wills, anuities and other designated gifts. Through the Loan Program, students may borrow up to $5,000 per year at 5% interest (Five for Five Program).  The 135 year old United Methodist Student Loan Fund is the oldest student loan fund in the United States.

Applicant must be:

An active, full member of the United Methodist Church for at least one year prior to application.

Admitted to a degree program in an accreditied college/university OR a degree candidate attending a professional or graduate school accredited by its respective accrediting agency.

Maintaining at least a C average (or equivalent)

High School students may apply if they will be college students in the fall term.

Amount

$5,000 (per academic year) full-time student. (Loans available for part time students.)
