Section Leaders Needed for Chancel Choir

New World UMC is seeking section leaders for our Chancel Choir.  Main responsibilities would include being prepared for Wednesday night rehearsals and singing in worship on Sunday morning. Section leaders would also sing special offertory music and assist with leading worship on a weekly basis as well as during Lent/Easter and Advent/Christmas seasons.  We are offering $40 per rehearsal and $100 per service. Auditions will be held the week of February 5, 2012.

The Youth Choir is a well-established vital part of the music ministry of this church, and a part of a vital Youth Ministry program. We are seeing an individual who will lead our students in an appropriate balance of traditional and contemporary music as we seek to engage our youth in choral music ministry.

First UMC Colleyville Part-Time Director of Adult and Youth Praise Teams

The position of Director of Adult and Youth Praise Teams  is a part-time (average 20 hours per week) salaried staff position. The role of the Director of Adult and Youth Praise Teams is to oversee and give direction to the music ministry of the church as it is carried out in the Celebration Service (Contemporary Praise Service) and in Youth worship on Sunday nights.    Specific responsibilities include:

  • Volunteer development within the Music Ministries program
  • Implementation of the music program for Celebration Services
  • Supervision of supplemental musicians for the Celebration Service
  • Direction of the Youth Praise Band
  • Communication related to the Celebration Service and Youth Praise Band
  • Administrative Duties related to the Celebration Service and Youth Praise Band
  • Working with other staff members

Other responsibilities necessary for the effective ministry of the church may be specified by the Music Director or Senior Pastor in consultation with the Worship Committee and the Staff-Parish Relations Committee.  Must be a TEAM player! And one who sees his or her role and duties primarily as a ministry to the congregation and to all who attend here, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Children's Choir Director

Woodhaven Presbyterian Church in Irving is seeking a qualified individual to direct the Children's Choir. (ages 4-12).  Part time, requires 2-3 hrs per week.

Job responsibilities: rehearse weekly on Wednesday nights 6-7, direct the children¹s choir during worship as scheduled, maintain and build the children¹s music library, recruit adult/parent volunteers, recruit new members, maintain instruments and choir robes , . . .

Qualifications: musical training, a degree in music preferred,  basic  piano skills  knowledge of children¹s choir literature (sacred), knowledge of young  voices

Compensation:  dependent on experience/qualifications.

Interim Choir Director Search

The Reformed Church in Plano (RCP) is searching for a part-time interim choir director. The person in this position will serve as the primary leader and director of the Sounds of Joy—our adult choir.

The ideal candidate will be in a strong and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, committed to the mission, core values, and vision of RCP, willing to adhere to Reformed doctrine and theology, devoted to a team approach to ministry, and committed to the vision for worship and music in worship at RCP. In addition, this person will possess strong communication skills, relational ability, a theological understanding of worship, and choral directing ability. Bachelor’s degree in music or related field required. Previous experience directing a choir at the congregational level preferred.

This is a part-time exempt position (salaried) with an approximate time commitment of 8 hours per week. The salary range is $500 to $800 per month. Employment is "at will," and the position will be offered on an interim basis. The term of employment ends on May 31, 2012.

Part-time Organist/Pianist

Northwest Hills United Methodist Church has an opening for a part-time organist/pianist: 10-15 hours weekly (including 4 hours worship/rehearsal playing and the remaining hours for personal preparation and practice)
Responsibilities include:

  • playing for the 11:15 a.m. Sunday traditional worship service.
  • accompanying the adult choir rehearsal once a week
  • accompanying soloists, choirs or instrumental ensembles in worship
  • playing for special services
  • overseeing regular maintenance of the organ and pianos

The salary for the position is $13,500 per year. Additional income is possible from weddings and memorial services.

Opening for a Director of Music and Worship Ministries at Aledo UMC, a growing church in East Parker County with an average worship attendance of 450. Responsibilities include oversight of the music and fine arts department, development of creative worship experiences, leading the chancel choir, bell choir, etc., overseeing the contemporary praise and worship service, overseeing all audio/visual equipment and drama ministries.  Requirements: minimum two years of similar experience and an undergraduate degree.
