Countryside Community United Church of Christ, Omaha, NE, is seeking a full-time Organist/Director of Children’s Music. Countryside is a vibrant faith community that places great value on music in worship and employs a number of highly trained musicians. As Organist/Accompanist, the individual in this position will provide music for the 9:00 a.m. Classical service as well as choral and solo accompaniments at the 11:00 a.m. Jazz service. He/she will accompany two adult choirs (traditional and non-traditional), the high school youth choir (including an annual tour), special music and soloists, substituting as Director for the adult and youth choirs, as needed. As Director of Children’s Music, he/she will be responsible for leading and further developing and growing the existing children’s choir program, coordinate and supervise its directors, and fill in for them, as needed. A salary of $32,500, health and dental insurance, sick and parental leave, and two weeks paid vacation are provided.
The ideal candidate will be a person of faith and will possess a high level of musicianship including excellent skills in organ literature, solid piano technique for choral accompaniments and the ability to play across diverse musical styles. A combination of education and experience is required; a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in music is preferred. The candidate must demonstrate experience in accompanying on both piano and organ and an understanding of healthy vocal technique.
