Project Manager at UM Communications

Basic Purpose:

The project manager is responsible for designing, launching, leading and completing small to midscale programs under the initiative of United Methodist Communications known as Information Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D).)The ICT4D project manager will work under the supervision of the Director of the ICT4D Initiative. This initiative seeks to utilize communications technologies to empower individuals and communities, in partnership with local United Methodist leaders, local churches and related entities. The initiative addresses pressing problems, which can be affected positively by communications technologies in under-served communities. The technologies that are introduced are appropriate, affordable, and sustainable to the local context. The ICT4D staff also provide online and face-to-face training for volunteers to work in ICT4D initiatives.

Director of Student Ministries at Hamilton Mill UMC

Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church (www.hmumc.org) is a young and rapidly growing church in the Hamilton Mill suburb north of Atlanta an area known for its excellent schools and nationally recognized park systems for running, walking, and family leisure. HMUMC is seeking a full-time Director of Student Ministries to lead the student ministry by encouraging, equipping, and empowering students (9th -12th) to grow as disciples who lead others to Jesus Christ, by nurturing a sense of clear Christian identity in students and by teaching and supporting parents to do the same. The DSM will join a team of student ministry staff and dedicated volunteers to implement a vision and long-term goals for the student ministry.

A strength of the student ministry is the relationships that make up the community through a strong small group ministry that students and small group leaders find valuable, life-giving and deeply personal. One result from these relationships is the spiritual depth of the students. Students grow through worship, small groups, large group teaching, service, and retreats. The student ministry isn’t interested in merely making converts. Instead, it is focused on making fully devoted disciples of Jesus.

The responsibilities of the DSM are

- Ensuring relationships are built between the student ministry volunteers, the students, and their families by shepherding them and helping them develop their own relationship with Jesus Christ

- Coordinating and supervising of all full and part-time student ministry staff and hands-on adult volunteers

- Creating an atmosphere of belonging and fellowship where emerging spiritual and leadership skills can be developed

- Implementing the student ministry programs including Sunday morning worship, small groups, Wednesday night worship, outreach projects and special events

- Integrating the student ministry into the life of the congregation in which students are serving in leadership roles so that there is cohesion and connection with the rest of the church

Qualified candidates should have at least 5 years of student ministry experience with a minimum of 3 years in leadership preferably in a large church and be strong in relationship building, communication, administration, ministering to parents and team building. Candidates should also have a proven track record of success in empowering, developing and equipping a large team of volunteers. This person should be theologically aligned with HMUMC and exhibit professionalism.

Student Pastor Position at Soules Chapel UMC and West New Hope UMC

Soules Chapel United Methodist Church and West New Hope United Methodist Church are on a two point charge located near Gilmer, Texas in the North District of the Texas Conference about a 2 hour drive from Dallas. These small membership churches  are being served by a student pastor who will be commissioned this year at Annual Conference in May and moving to another appointment.  Soules Chapel UMC is the larger of the two and has a strong leadership. Soules Chapel UMC provides a parsonage for their pastor and the annual salary for both churches is $36,530.00.  These congregations specifically request student pastors as they work best for them.  Candidates applying for this position are not required to be from the Texas Conference.

Full-Time Organist/Director of Children's Music in Omaha, NE

Countryside Community United Church of Christ, Omaha, NE, is seeking a full-time Organist/Director of Children’s Music. Countryside is a vibrant faith community that places great value on music in worship and employs a number of highly trained musicians. As Organist/Accompanist, the individual in this position will provide music for the 9:00 a.m. Classical service as well as choral and solo accompaniments at the 11:00 a.m. Jazz service. He/she will accompany two adult choirs (traditional and non-traditional), the high school youth choir (including an annual tour), special music and soloists, substituting as Director for the adult and youth choirs, as needed. As Director of Children’s Music, he/she will be responsible for leading and further developing and growing the existing children’s choir program, coordinate and supervise its directors, and fill in for them, as needed. A salary of $32,500, health and dental insurance, sick and parental leave, and two weeks paid vacation are provided. 

The ideal candidate will be a person of faith and will possess a high level of musicianship including excellent skills in organ literature, solid piano technique for choral accompaniments and the ability to play across diverse musical styles. A combination of education and experience is required; a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in music is preferred. Would you like to work in paradise?  Memorial United Methodist Church (http://www.mumconline.com), located on the main street of quaint Fernandina Beach, Florida, is looking for a Director of Children and Family Ministries.  Nestled on Amelia Island in a historic district, this friendly church has experienced tremendous growth in young families over recent years.  As the oldest United Methodist Church in Florida, their rich history is used as a foundation to build for the future.

The Director of Children and Family Ministries will provide innovative, executive leadership in the development and implementation of all aspects of children’s ministry programming, serving children from birth to fifth grade, as well as their families.  The main responsibilities are:

  • Provide Leadership:  Oversee all children’s ministry programming, nursery department, serve as liaison to the preschool board and supervise the preschool director.
  • Equip families, leaders, and volunteers:  The director will recruit, equip, and build teams of children’s ministry leaders and volunteers.

Qualifications include:
