PYST young scholars identify persons from their congregations or community organizations to serve as mentors. Mentors develop caring relationships with the youth and serve as dialogue partners for them as they process and reflect on their experiences in PYST.
Mentors nurture youth and encourage them to develop their leadership skills and incorporate what they have learned for service in their churches and communities. Adults who wish to serve as mentors for a PYST youth should be 21 years old or older and able to commit to a mentoring relationship for 1-2 years.
Applications for mentors are accepted year-round. Interested persons may download the application forms and mail them to the PYST program office.
