All prospective degree and non-degree students are invited to attend Inside Perkins, a free information session offered by Perkins School of Theology, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1.

The annual joint meeting of the American Academy of Religion and the Society of Biblical Literature takes place Nov. 18-22 in San Antonio.

“Reconciling the World through Christ” is the theme for this year’s annual Perkins event, with services planned for 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. in Perkins Chapel.

"One thing I hope we all share is a commitment to overcome the all-too-natural tendency to fear 'the other.' We all — Republicans, Democrats and Independents alike — should be profoundly disturbed by and repudiate anything that encourages us to see others as objects and not as individuals whom God loves."

All prospective degree and non-degree students are invited to attend Inside Perkins and engage with faculty and staff from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18.

Apply by Nov. 1 for priority merit scholarship consideration. Applications now being accepted for Spring and Fall 2017 enrollment, with the fee waived through March 1.

We invite all prospective degree and non-degree students or those contemplating a career switch to attend a free information session Thursday, Oct. 20, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Houston.

Inside Perkins participants will have an opportunity to engage with students and faculty, attend a class and worship, tour the school’s facilities and learn more about admissions and financial aid.

The conference, which will take place at St. John United Methodist Church, will consist of a Friday-evening lecture and Saturday workshops presented by Perkins professors Jaime Clark-Soles and Hugo Magallanes.

The conference, scheduled for Sept. 9-10, is an exploration of the baptismal covenant as a spiritual foundation for discipleship and witness.

"Dream Again" is the theme for the 2017 conference, scheduled for Jan. 9-12. Filmmaker and author Marlon F. Hall headlines a dynamic group of speakers and workshop leaders for the conference, which will take place at Highland Park United Methodist Church.

Renowned biblical scholar N.T. Wright is the featured lecturer as Perkins School of Theology hosts "Simply Wright: N.T. Wright at Perkins | SMU" on Nov. 15-17, 2016.

The display surveys the wide range of illuminated manuscripts in Bridwell Library Special Collections representing the Christian, Judaic and Islamic traditions and includes items produced between the 12th and 19th centuries.

Rev. Dr. Mark Stamm, Professor of Christian Worship at Perkins School of Theology, and Rev. Dr. Stephen Rankin, Chaplain and Minister to the University at SMU, led the service that took place June 15 in Perkins Chapel.

Dr. O. Wesley Allen Jr. will be presenting “The Reign of Heaven … What on Earth? The Heart of the Gospel of Matthew” during the day-long workshop at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Each year, nearly 75 percent of Perkins students will receive some form of financial assistance from Perkins School of Theology. Perkins also will waive its $50 fee for all applications completed by March 1.

The collection will be on display through July 1, 2016, in the Elizabeth Perkins Protho Gallery.

The "Ecumenical Celebration of the Word of God," to take place at University Park United Methodist Church, is part of the annual eight-day observance (Jan. 18-25) -- sponsored by the World Council of Churches -- that encompasses Christian congregations and parishes across the globe.

The Le Van Professor Emerita of Preaching and Worship was presented the Berakah Award during NAAL's annual meeting on Jan. 9 in Houston.

Rev. John McKellar, Pastor of White’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake, Texas, and Rev. Linda Roby, Associate Minister of Local and Global Missions at First United Methodist Church Dallas, will be honored at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, during the annual Distinguished Alumni Awards banquet.
