  Gregory Hopkins
ghopkins@smu.edu

Classification: Junior

Hometown: Little Rock, AR

Major(s): Finance

Personal Goals:

  • I hope to address the issue of enrollment. Students, ever since I’ve been here, have always stressed about signing up for classes. This should not be an issue with the prestigious university we attend. If the reason behind this is to keep teacher-student ratios low for admissions, I will speak with university leaders to solve this

I also hope to dive into the issue of parking. This has always been a concern for students, but there are several feasible ways to make parking available on campus. Specifically, the parking behind fraternity row is filled with “staff” parking areas that no one parks in. The parking near the SMU Police Department is never full. There should be ways for us to open some of this parking to students.

Finally, I will continue my efforts on the finance committee. Allocating our student fees to organizations on campus is not an easy job, but in my third year, I now know how to be mindful of all students on campus and not just play favorites with the large organizations.
