Major Classroom Upgrades in Dedman College
45 classrooms in Dedman College have been designated to receive a complete technology overhaul! Five of these classrooms were completed before the Fall term. The remaining 40 are all in progress. Each room is receiving new projectors and computers with HDMI connections. In addition, several screens are being replaced and a few new touch panels installed. These classrooms were selected based on the age of the existing equipment.

PerunaNet and the Residence Halls
To continue to improve the wireless service on campus, we made a few changes to PerunaNet during the summer. Previously, we increased our internet capacity in order to support continued demand. We also installed an enhanced wireless controller (the devices that interfaces with the Access Points). We modified the configuration settings to only allow a specific protocol which will improve overall performance as well. In just a few short days, we saw a record number of devices connect to the wireless network. With the increase in unique devices connecting to the network, we must now also increase the number of access points within the residence halls to meet the demand.
On September 4 we began expansion work in McElvaney Hall implementing a new design as well as adding 40 new access points. Based on feedback from students following that installation, we will compile a schedule to determine the needs for the remaining halls. More details will be posted in mid September. We will work as quickly as possible to make the necessary changes to support the increased demand.
